The calcium bromide solid is white oblique needle-like crystal or powder, odorless, tasting salty and bitter, in relative density of 3.35 (25 ℃) and strong in hygroscopicity. The melting point is 730 ℃ (micro decomposition), and the boiling point is 806 ~ 812 ℃.
The calcium bromide solid is quite easily soluble in water, forming neutral solution. It is also soluble in ethanol, acetone and acid; slightly soluble in methanol, ammonia; and insoluble in ether or chloroform. It may form compound salt with alkali metal halides.

5. Usage
The calcium bromide solid can be used for the following purposes:
a) calcium bromide alone, or mixed with the blend of calcium bromide and zinc bromide, or mixed with calcium chloride, can be used as completion fluid, workover fluid and cementing fluid.
b) for the manufacture of ammonium bromide and photosensitive papers, fire extinguishing agents, refrigerants, etc.
6. Storage and Handling
The calcium bromide solid should be store in a cool, ventilatedwarehouse. The container must be sealed to prevent moisture. Pile it separately from deliquescent goods.
