DQ178/40Y-TB Hydraulic Power Tongs
The complete set of DQ178/40Y-TB hydraulic power tongs is comprised of master tongs and hydraulic backup tongs, which can operate separately and freely. This clamping device features an open-throat design that has become commonplace in oilfields, where it is used to break out or make up the 2 7/8″-4″ drill string, 2 7/8″-4 1/2″ production tubing, and 4 1/2″-7″ borehole casing.
Unique to our hydraulic tongs is the door interlock that uses the hand-operated directional control valve to block the hydraulic fluid from reaching the hydraulic motor preventing any tong motion when the door is open. Safe and convenient to operate, the door interlock is now covered by patent number ZL 200820160143.9.
The tong head adopts the brake band to provide reliable, large-torque braking motion. Such kind of brake is easy to adjust, operate, and replace. Negative camber roll climbing two-way clamping mechanisms are utilized by the master tongs and backup tongs to give more aggressive, reliable bite onto the couplers, joints, and drill pipes.
This type hydraulic power tongs feature a rigid casing made from low-alloy manganese steel plates. Various-sized jaw plates, tong dies, and open-throat ring gears are all constructed from alloy steel through forging and other heat treating processes, resulting in sufficient mechanical strength even when operating at the highest torques.
Model 20YB hydraulic power tongs can be equipped with the tong-torque gauge. They also provide ports for connecting devices that can measure the number of turns of the gauge. This facilitates the torque control by computers.
