The JPVF series flash tank comes in one of two types, either in vertical or horizontal configuration. As a piece of auxiliary equipment for boilers, it has a critical role to play in ensuring safety during start-up and normal operation of the 300MW, 600MW, 900MW, and 1000MW supercritical boilers. In the initial operation of the boiler, a minimum flow is required in the furnace waterwalls prior to firing of the furnace. Our flash tank can very well serve that purpose. Its presence prevents short-term overheating of the boiler tubes, and ensures maximum startup and operational safety.

As early as the first half of 2004, Jinan Pressure Vessel Factory worked with Mitsui Babcock to jointly develop our first flash tank for use in the supercritical boiler. Features
1. Unlike the conventional flash steam recovery system that has a steam trap placed after the flash tank, this flash vessel combines the flash vessel and steam trap into one unit, one stacked on top of the other. This arrangement greatly reduces the combined volume of the two instruments.
2. An energy absorber is fitted inside the tank instead of outside it. The built-in design eliminates the use of large amount of high-grade materials in its construction. A small amount of stainless steel is all that needs to build the absorber, which saves metals and cuts down manufacturing cost.
3. The boiler flash vessel is one of the most complex systems in the whole supercritical steam generator whose design requires very complicated calculations, such as determining the rated flow rate, pressure, and temperature of various inlet pipes. By measuring the near-surface evaporation rate, which is a common method used by European and American designers in the design of flash vessel, as well as based on calculating the enthalpy of the whole flash steam recovery system as Russian experts would do, we get the average of these two values and add an amount of allowance to it. This ensures the volume of the designed tank falls within the tolerance band required by standards.
