A shackle, also known as a gyve, is a U-shaped piece of metal that is secured with a clevis pin or bolt across the opening; or a hinged metal loop secured with a quick release locking pin mechanism. Shackles are primarily used as a primary connecting link in different rigging systems, including boats, ships and industrial cranes as they allow the rigging to be connected or disconnected quickly. Our hot dip galvanized shackles are primarily used on docks to connect anchor chains and fender panel hooks. The thickness of the zing layer on the shackle body can be up to 85µm and the thickness of the zinc layer on the shackle pin can be up to 50µm.

    Types of Shackles
    1. : With a large O shape on the loop, this shackle is designed to take loads from different directions without developing a side load. Despite this, the larger loop shape does not reduce the overall strength. These are also referred to as an anchor shackle. The G-209, S-209, and G-2130 hot dip galvanized bow shackles are designed to have a breaking load that is 6 times their working load.

    2. : This anchor shackle has a thin head bolt-nut and a cotter pin that both meet the requirements of Federal Specification RR-C-271D Type IVA, Grade A, Class 3.

    3. : Also known as a chain shackle, D-shackles are used to in the marine industry to attach halyards to sails, especially sails fit with a headboard. Headboard shackles are often stamped from flat strap stainless steel, and feature an additional pin between the top of the loop and the bottom to prevent the headboard from chafing the spliced eye of the halyard. Our G-210, S-210 and G-2150 hot dip galvanized D shackle's breaking loads are 6 times that of their working load.

    4. : The bolt chain shackle with a thin hex bolt nut and cotter pin conform to the requirements of Federal Specification RR-C-271D Type IVB, Grade A, Class 3.
