Introduction
The fuel pump is one of the basis components of electronic fuel injection system for vehicles. It functions to suck out the fuel from the fuel tank and then pressurize the system to deliver the fuel to the fuel pipeline. Working together with other car parts such as the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump can help maintain the fuel pressure.

Working Principle
When the rotor rotating, the roller creates an outward pressure due to the centrifugal force, and it offers functions similar to a rotary oil seal. Synchronously, the fuel pump starts fuel suction from the fuel inlet, and then delivers the fuel to the fuel system from the fuel outlet through pressurization.
After that, the high pressure fuel pump stops working. Thus, the check valve at the fuel outlet will be closed as well, so as to prevent fuel return to the fuel tank. The fuel pipeline pressure maintained by the check valve is called as the Residual Pressure.
The maximum fuel pumping pressure is determined by the pressure limiter. When the pump pressure exceeds a limit, the pressure limiter will open the bypass line, thus allowing the fuel to return to the fuel pump inlet.
