Highway Guardrail
Conception:
Highway guardrail is the most frequently used type of highway safety component found in roadway projects. They are roll-formed products that are shaped out of steel coil into the shape of a "W," and galvanized to prevent corrosion, increasing the rail's lifetime. W-beam guardrails can be installed on steel posts using a spacer.
Weida's highway guardrail comes in standard effective length sections of 4000mm or3810mm. Different required length are possible as well.
Where is the guardrail used for?
Guardrails are commonly installed along roadways, particularly at curves and along slopes, parking lots and other places where it would be dangerous for a car to leave the road.
How does the guardrail work?
The guardrail is designed to absorb the impact of a vehicle while allowing for some flexibility so as not to abruptly stop the vehicle, which is dangerous to occupants.
The hot dip galvanized or HDG powder coating enables five features below:
1. Offer railing protection to motor vehicles at dangerous road areas such as steep slopes, high embankments, obscure curves/bends, and sharp corners.
2. Absorbing sudden impact during collision thus minimizing injury to vehicle and passenger.
3. Use as guide lines for vehicles moving in the right direction.
4. Avoiding collision.
5. Using as a protective barrier for pedestrians along the highway.
