- The gate valve is a valve in which the flow of fluid is controlled by moving a wedge or disc-shaped gate.
- Gate valves are used for shut off applications in a variety of pipelines. In the open position, the gate valve provides very little restriction to the flowing fluid. Thus, the primary advantage of the gate valve is low pressure drop.
