The H section is a cost-efficient steel section bar that has optimized cross-section area allocation and rationalized strength-to-weight ratio. The H-beam evolves from the I-beam to be an economical structural steel with better mechanical properties. It is so named because the section has a shape that resembles the English letter “H”.

Due to various parts of the H section are arranged perpendicularly, so in all directions, the H-beam has good bending resistance and makes it easy for construction. It is also a lightweight profile steel.

Features
1. Wide flange, better lateral stiffness, strong bending resistance.
2. Paralleled flanges enable easy connection, processing and installation.
3. In welding process, the H section costs less than the I-beam does. It also has higher precision and less residual stress. There is no need for expensive welding material or welding seam testing, saving the production cost of steel structure by about 30%.
4. Under the same sectional load, the hot-rolled H steel structure achieves a 15% -20% weight reduction compared with the conventional steel structure.
5. Compared with the concrete structure, the hot-rolled H steel structure can increase the usable area by 6%, while reduce the weight of the structure by 20%-30%. Thus it reduces the internal force of the structure.
6. The H section can be processed into T section. The honeycomb beam may be combined to form a variety of cross sections,to meet engineering design and production requirements.
