Doctor rolls help regulate adhesive transfer in single facers, working alongside glue rolls to ensure the right amount of starch adhesive reaches the flute tips. Rather than simply applying glue, their function is to control and fine-tune the adhesive layer, helping achieve consistent bonding strength and smooth board surfaces, even at high production speeds. For best performance, it’s important that the doctor roll and glue roll have similar surface conditions. Replacing them together helps prevent glue inconsistencies caused by uneven surface wear, which can otherwise affect bonding accuracy and overall board quality.
